CARMEN CALVO. Premi Julio González 2022
On the occasion of the Julio González Award being granted to Carmen Calvo (Valencia, 1950), IVAM has organized an exhibition which reviews the principal lines of this artist’s research from the late 1960s to the present time. To a large extent, one of Carmen Calvo’s works supports the recovery and re-creation of images and of discarded objects. In her complex creative process, the artist constructs her personal view of the world activating mechanisms such as daydreams, memories, desires and fears.
Pinazo en el espacio público
The intention of this new exhibition on Ignacio Pinazo is to propose a new biopolitical focus on the part of his oeuvre made up of paintings and drawings that were largely produced by the artist for himself, and are therefore less academicist in their style and poetics.
Arte en una tierra baldía, 1939 - 1959. Colección del IVAM
The end of the Spanish Civil War and of the Second World War suggest opposing worlds, radically different settings, but both have been built on wasteland; on pain, on ruins and on material and ethical debris which causes the absolute destruction of the war. And all of this takes place in complex living conditions: in exile, in migration, in repression.
Endgame. Jordi Teixidor
The core idea behind Endgame is to survey the painterly grammar of Jordi Teixidor (Valencia 1941) in the field of abstraction over the course of the last six decades. The show includes early works from his beginnings as a painter within the orbit of the avant-garde art groups Nueva Generación and Antes del Arte, as well as a select number of paintings from the most notable series in his longstanding career set in dialogue with works from the IVAM collection.
